Ricardo Domínguez Garcia-Baquero, president of Navantia, and Orlando Alonso, president of Windar Renovables, have received the award from Mario Ruiz-Tagle, CEO of Iberdrola Spain, for a project that, after years of work, has marked the beginning of the evolution of the Navantia Seanergies shipyard in Fene with a series of works that have contributed to adapting it to the demand for elements of Offshore Wind, being able to build in its facilities the three types of foundations, jackets, monopiles, and floating.
Ricardo Domínguez Garcia-Baquero has expressed gratitude for this award, which he receives ‘with special enthusiasm for being a recognition of job creation, wealth, and qualification in Ferrolterra’, as he explained, ‘we base the business strategy of Navantia Seanergies on collaboration with the entire value chain of the Green Energy sector in the marine environment, creating shared value, and driving the growth of the industrial fabric surrounding the company.’ He finally recognized that ‘Iberdrola’s trust in Navantia has played a very significant role in the growth of our company in the sustainable energy sector.’
The new XXL monopiles factory is already completed with its two production lines in operation. It is a modern facility in which €36 million contributed by Navantia Seanergies and Windar Renovables have been invested.
The works began with the renovation and expansion of the old flat block workshop by more than 30 meters, its implementation with the necessary machinery for folding and welding sheets up to 100 mm thick and 12 meters in diameter.
