Iberdrola awards Navantia Seanergies and Windar for the ‘conversion’ of the former Fene shipyard

Navantia Seanergies, in collaboration with Windar Renovables, has been honored with the ‘Economic Recovery and Job Creation’ Award by Iberdrola, highlighting the transformation of the Fene shipyard (A Coruña). The investment of 36 million euros has allowed the establishment of a new XXL monopiles production facility at the former shipyard, generating approximately 400 new jobs.

Two production lines

The new factory, with its two production lines in operation, has been instrumental in the construction of monopiles for Iberdrola’s East Anglia 3 offshore wind farm, as well as fixed foundations (jackets) for other marine projects. The President of Navantia and the President of Windar Renovables received the award in Madrid, highlighting collaboration and growth in the sustainable energy sector.

“Green industrialization”

Iberdrola’s speech emphasized the contribution to a greener and more sustainable economic model, encouraging continued growth in “green industrialization” to ensure energy autonomy and decarbonization. This distinction reinforces Navantia Seanergies’ position as a leader in the sector, highlighting its commitment to job creation, the quality of its products, and collaboration in the value chain of the green energy sector in marine environments.
